I had the privilege of emceeing the most wonderful charity fundraiser last Saturday - actually, I've emceed some marvellous charity fundraisers over the years.
I'm always in awe of people who have the talent and time to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the good of others. But this is a charitable organisation that doesn't get a lot of attention - and it should.
It's called KiwiHarvest Collective, and collects food that would otherwise rot on the ground or go to landfills, and then distributes it to more than 200 charities that feed needy Kiwis. It's food collected from supermarkets, wholesalers, producers, cafés, restaurants and hotels that they aren't able to sell by the best-before date.
KiwiHarvest collects around 170,000 to 200,000kg of food every month and then redistributes it to the food banks and charities that feed so many Kiwis doing it tough right now.
