If you're forever looking for simple ways to squeeze - exercise into your day, this approach could be one of the easiest to stick to. Better yet, there's no gym membership required! Exercise "snacks" are brief snippets of vigorous exercise, usually lasting a minute or two. Cumulatively, these short, sharp bursts can have major health benefits.
Expert trainer Justin Savage explains how to add exercise snacks into your schedule.
BENEFITS
"Moving more, in general, is going to make you fitter, stronger, healthier and mentally clearer, and doing it in short snacks throughout the day is a great way to add exercise into your lifestyle," says Justin. "It doesn't feel like it takes a lot of time, it's convenient and easily added to your daily schedule." The idea is to exercise in short, frequent sessions throughout the day, rather than one longer session. Justin says it's all about how much effort you put into each snack. Regular short and sharp high-intensity interval training sessions could burn more kilojoules than a slower-paced hour-long workout. Studies show benefits can include improved strength and aerobic fitness, as well as plenty of psychological perks.
