When TV comedy The White Lotus became a smash hit last year, there was no doubt about it - Jennifer Coolidge was back!
The 60-year-old made her mark on the silver screen in American Pie in 1999 and in Legally Blonde in 2001, but the decades in between have been less than stellar for the comedic star.
As the quirky and self-obsessed Tanya McQuoid in the six-part social satire, Jennifer once again gets to unleash her off-the-wall humour, but the actress confesses she almost pulled out of The White Lotus before it got off the ground.
The problem was, she says, she’d put on around 18kg during the first Covid lockdown.
“I thought we were all going to die, I really did, so I was just eating myself to death,” she admits. “Vegan pizzas, sometimes five or six in a day. I just didn’t want to be on camera that fat.”
She was desperately thinking up excuses to pull out of the show when a friend convinced her otherwise.
