Her glittering career has made her a household H name, not to mention rich beyond her wildest dreams but Kate Moss says her teen years in the limelight almost broke her spirit.
In a rare interview, the supermodel, who shot to fame in the '90s, has revealed she was sometimes reduced to tears by photographers who insisted she went topless and that she once had to flee a modelling session for a bra catalogue.
"I was only 15, probably, and he said, 'Take your top off.' I took my top off and I was really shy then about my body," recalls Kate.
"And he said, 'Take your bra off, and I could feel there was something wrong, so I got my stuff and ran away. I think it sharpened my instincts. I can tell a wrong 'un a mile away."
The now 48-year-old fashion icon was just 14 when she was discovered in 1988 by a modelling agent at New York's JFK airport on her way home from a holiday in the Bahamas.
Her life, up until then, had been unremarkable, revolving around her barmaid mum Linda and her airline employee dad Peter in the outer suburbs of London. Her parents had divorced the year previously.
Within a matter of weeks, Kate was plunged into the murky and exploitative world of fashion, often travelling across London alone, doing up to eight modelling jobs a day.
