Diana Ross famously said, “You can’t just sit there and wait for people to give you that golden dream. You’ve got to get out there and make it happen for yourself.” And that’s exactly what she did.
At 80, Diana Ross is one of pop’s most enduring artists – and as befits a diva who sang and shimmied her way from humble beginnings to untouchable icon status, she celebrated becoming an octogenarian in style!
Before the party, the star’s youngest son, Evan, 35, shared, “It will be something to be remembered. I think she’s going to go all in, which is exciting!”
And she did. Private jets flew a star-studded fleet of guests to Diana’s $25 million, 11-bedroom Quarry Farm Estate in Conneticut, where they celebrated her milestone birthday on March 26. Next up for her is the continuation of her Diana’s Music Legacy Tour across America, with shows in eight cities over 11 days in May.
Earlier this year, it was revealed the I’m Coming Out singer is the new face of Saint Laurent, with the age-defying diva looking incredible in a black off -the-shoulder halterneck, with the free-fl owing curls that have been her signature look since the 1970s. And Evan – who is married to singer Ashlee Simpson, 39 – couldn’t be more proud.
“The photos are so beautiful, but there’s also so much wisdom,” he says. “I think they’ll last for a lifetime, which is amazing.”
With a career spanning 65 years and counting, it seemed from the beginning everything Diana touched turned to gold.
