The art of KOKEDAMA

While 1970s-style hanging plant pots are fairly common, kokedama are something else entirely. Kokedama means "moss ball" in Japanese and is a floral art based on the bonsai tradition. Originally intended to display bonsai trees in an alternative way without pots, these beautiful moss-covered balls of soil introduced a new look for bonsai trees.

The modern evolution of kokedama also known as a string garden or floating plant-look amazing floating in the air, with their roots surrounded by green moss rather than pots.

Kokedama have a certain grace about them and create the same sense of fascination as a bonsai tree - you just want to know how they were created. Whereas a bonsai tree requires knowledge of cutting and tying techniques to care for it properly, making a kokedama is considerably easier to do.
