Ranvir Singh must be one of the busiest women on TV, regularly standing in for Lorraine Kelly on her morning chat show, appearing as a presenter on GMB as well as filming episodes of the hit ITV1 quiz Riddiculous, which returned for a second series earlier this month. On top of all that, she juggles being a mum to her son Tushaan, 11, and navigating a relationship with 28-year-old Louis Church, who she met while competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020.
Here, Ranvir, 46, reveals what keeps her awake at night, the terrifying TV challenge she might consider taking on and the nastiest thing a fan has ever said to her.
You’ve had an amazing career, but do you have any other professional ambitions you want to achieve?
I just want to carry on working on shows that I enjoy and find fulfilling. I’m standing in for Lorraine and there are various other projects which are potentially really exciting. I’m lucky to do a job that I really love.
How do you balance work and home life?
All parents strive for that balance, don’t they? I think it’s about quality time when it comes to being with my son. He’s that little bit older now, so it’s become that little bit easier. It’s about learning to be available in pockets of time for him, where you’re not being distracted by anything else. It’s the chance to have a really good talk with him or do something with him where nothing else is getting in the way. Quality over quantity, in other words. That’s the balance I try to strike!
