Discovering what makes you feel attractive and cared for can be key to a long, happy relationship
-
Can't stop smiling when your partner takes out the bins? Or maybe being told you look great in a new outfit gives you warm and fuzzy feelings. What makes us feel loved in our relationship is different for all of us, but are you and your partner on the same page with both of your needs?
‘Understanding how you each receive love, and adding to this open and honest communication, makes for a beautiful relationship built on a solid, secure foundation,’ says sex and relationship coach Nina Mandair*.
If you’re in a relationship, take our quiz together to discover what makes you and your partner swoon and the easy ways to add more of this into your day-to-day life.
Single? You can still do this quiz. By learning what makes you feel loved, you can use it as a tool for practising self-care. For example, if you value compliments, get into the habit of saying something you love about yourself in the mirror each day.
Read on to discover your love language...
1 The way to woo you is with a home-cooked meal.
You ☐ Your partner ☐
Actions, rather than words, make you feel valued - whether that's being fed, getting your car washed or knowing the dog has already been walked.
TURN IT UP Take the initiative with tasks. Know that your partner has a busy day ahead? Don't wait to be asked to help them around the house or run errands. 'Offer support in practical ways that will ease their burden, and be reliable and follow through on your commitments,' says Nina.
