EXPLORE THE SURREY HILLS

WHY GO?

From Farnham in the west along to Guildford, Dorking, Reigate and Oxted in the east, the Surrey Hills are beautiful all year round. With a vast network of footpaths, byways and bridleways, this area is a walker’s paradise – but there’s plenty more to explore…

WALKS FOR ALL

Whether you’re looking for a slow amble with friends, family-friendly activities or a vigorous hike, there’s a trail for you.

BEGINNER: The National Trust’s Leith Hill Woodland Walk is a gorgeous, circular 2.5-mile walk that starts at the Windy Gap car park. One of the highest points in south-east England, you’ll get the best views of the South Downs. You can climb the 18th century Leith Hill Tower for a small fee (for non-members) and there’s a kiosk selling snacks and drinks to enjoy on the grassy surrounds.

INTERMEDIATE: Travelling by train? Start at Reigate train station and, after a short amble through the town centre, take the footpath up Reigate Hill. Once you’ve reached the top, clamber down the hillside for a gentle stroll back along the bottom of the Downs. This 3.5-mile walk has a steep ascent and descent, so wear footwear with plenty of grip.
