I'll avoid working during my period'

Rosey Davidson, 40, is a sleep consultant and lives in north London with her husband Dan and two children.

I was thrilled when I heard Spain had introduced menstrual leave. It's time to face facts, periods can be debilitating, painful and heavy. They can even impact sleep, meaning nobody will be at their most productive during this time.

I suffer from endometriosis, and have very heavy periods. I run a sleep consultancy business and my all-female team and I have the flexibility to work around our periods if we need to. I map my periods and I'll deliberately clear my diary as much as possible to avoid working during that time as I know I won't be at my best. All women should have this opportunity.
