These meaty sandwiches are a real crowd-pleaser. Serve 1-2 per person, depending how hungry you are.

HOW TO DO IT
1 Over a medium heat, drizzle the oil into a large frying pan and fry the onion until soft, around 6-8 mins. Add the garlic and peppers and cook for a further 5 mins until the peppers have softened.
2 Mix in the beef and cook for a few mins until browned. Add the tomatoes and stir in the barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tomato puree, chilli power, if using, brown sugar and stock cube.
3 Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 mins until the sauce has thickened and is not at all watery. Serve the mixture in the buns with grated Cheddar.
TIP FREEZE THE MINCE MIXTURE IN BATCHES. IT’S GREAT WITH NACHOS OR TACO BOWLS TOO.
