Would you charge your family for Christmas dinner?

YES

'I ask for £70 a head!

Helen Robertson, 44, is an administrative assistant and lives in Sheffield with her sons, aged 18 and 11. I've always hosted Christmas for my extended family and didn't mind covering the costs. But as the family has grown, with children getting older and new partners in the fold, the cost has skyrocketed. For me, it makes perfect sense to ask the family to contribute to the meal. It's something I started doing last year.

With 12 around the table, I totted up the cost of the dinner and was reminded how expensive it was. In previous years, I racked up £2,500 in credit card bills, spending the following year paying it all off.

I thought if restaurants and pubs can charge people for a three-course Christmas meal, why can't I?
