Bleed a radiator

Gurgling or cold spots at the top of a radiator mean that air has become trapped in your heating system. To release it, you'll need a bleed key, a cloth and a container to catch any water. Bleeding is best 5 done when your radiators are cold: start with those that are furthest away from the boiler. Each will have a valve at the side: this is a small square or screw. Insert the key into it and, holding the cloth below the valve, turn the key anticlockwise. You should hear a hissing sound as air escapes. Continue turning until it’s a quarter to halfway open. Close the valve once water starts to leak out.
