'For frequent drinkers, feelings of anxiety, sweats and headaches are common when giving up,' says nutrition expert Penny Weston". "These usually occur within the first 24 hours after your last drink, but should stop after four to five days. For those who are heavily dependent on alcohol, there's the risk of seizures and hallucinations, so if you regularly drink in excess of 14 units per week, speak to your GP before attempting to quit.
