The new Princess of Wales shows her rivals how it's done

When Prince Harry unleashed his bombshell memoir and a series of spiteful tell-all interviews, he had the new Prince and Princess of Wales firmly in his crosshairs – and indeed, William and Catherine bore the brunt of the Duke of Sussex’s attack on the royal family, with their popularity suffering a brief slump in British polls.

But despite Harry’s efforts to drag them down, the approval dip has disappeared and now it’s back to business for the Waleses – especially Kate, 41, who’s keen to show that they won’t back away from their responsibilities.

“Kate and William decided to let Harry and Meghan have their time in the sun,” a palace insider tells. “They knew they’d eventually run out of steam. Besides, since William became heir to the throne, they were too busy working to worry about the Sussexes.”

Kate and Wills, 40, “are not without some power – Charles takes their advice frequently”, the source adds, explaining that some of the King’s biggest recent decisions actually stemmed from his son and daughter-in-law.

“Kicking Harry and Meghan out of Frogmore is something William had been considering for some time, especially after he and Kate moved in just down the road. He’s also helping Charles ensure that while the Sussexes are invited to the Coronation, as is the proper thing to do, they have minimal impact on his dad’s big day.”
