MONSTER MASH
For pumpkins with stitches, draw eyes, mouth, and scar on each pumpkin with a marker. Following scar line, cut pumpkin in half. Insert toothpick halves into bottom part of rind; press top part into exposed toothpicks to hold parts together. Carve eyes and mouth. Puncture to create pairs of holes opposite each other along length of scar. Bend each cotton swab into a U shape and press ends into a pair of holes. Attach olives to eye holes with toothpick halves. For mummy, cut pumpkin horizontally all the way around, 1" to 2" below opening. Repeat 4 to 6 times until you've carved the whole pumpkin, then separate the pieces. Keeping top and bottom pieces the same, restack others in a different order with pieces rotated. Starting from bottom, lift each level of pumpkin, insert 3 to 4 toothpicks onto level below, then press down to secure in place. Continue with next level until entire pumpkin is held together. Place beans into eyeholes, securing with toothpick halves.
