Tillingham
Rye, East Sussex

High in the rolling hills above Rye, Tillingham occupies a spectacular position, with sweeping views over the Kent countryside to the sea. It's the perfect mix of relaxed luxe and rustic charm, with a restaurant, open-sided barn serving wood-fired pizza, 11 stylish rooms and a sun-soaked terrace overlooking the vines. Set on a 70-acre working farm owned by Viscount Devonport, the winery was founded in 2017. The best spot in the house is table 4 in our restaurant, says general manager Conor Sheehan. 'The view back to Rye through the floor-to-ceiling windows is a sight to behold.'

LITTLE WOLD VINEYARD
South Cave, East Yorkshire

Tucked away on the gentle slopes of the chalky Yorkshire Wolds, Market Place Farm has been in the Wilson family for 70 years. Today, it is run by Henry Wilson and his adult children, Tom and Alice. Inspired by a visit to South Africa, Henry planted vines and the first crop was harvested in 2016. There are now 23 acres planted with 10 grape varieties, including Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, producing eight wines. In 2019, a beautiful new tasting room was added, with huge windows overlooking the Wolds; it serves locally sourced platters.
