Howe defends spent promises

EDDIE HOWE has defended the inflated promises made when Saudi Arabia took over Newcastle.

Monday is the third anniversary of the state-controlled Public Investment Fund buying the club for £305million.

Takeover broker and former shareholder Amanda Staveley said on the day the deal was done that Newcastle would win the Premier League within five to 10 years.
