For me, speaking as something of a traditionalist, the plural of “breakfast” has always been “breakfasts” — ie. the same word, only with an S on the end.
And yet that’s not what TV presenter Josie Gibson apparently calls more than one breakfast.
It’s taken me a little while to spot this, but for Josie the plural of “breakfast” appears to be “breakfasses”.
That's certainly what she’s been saying each week on AROUND THE WORLD IN FIRST CLASS, her luxury travel show, which tonight takes her to Finland and Sweden (C5, 8pm).
It’s in one of the clips they’ve been using at the start of each episode, where Josie has just been brought an enormous tray of fresh fruit and can’t quite believe how lovely it looks.
