Our regular columnist Karen McConnell introduces a new horse to the yard and shares the important steps taken to ensure the mare settles in and feels at home
Diva – the horse I introduced you to in the past two issues – is being kept busy at home and working towards getting ready for our first competitive outing.
I have also been spending time with another lovely young horse, who is from Lochlane Stud and is here to be started under saddle.
Starlight Express LLS – or Seren as she’s called at home – is a beautiful, shiny black four-year-old mare by Super tramp, out of a top sports pony dam called Synod Galina. Seren is maternal sister to the dressage pony stallion Woodlander
Sir Gorgeous. Seren has had a lovely start to life at home at Lochlane Stud, being allowed to exist as a ‘real’ horse, living out in their paddocks with the rest of the herd.
Around a month ago, we went over to the stud to pick up Seren and bring her home to start work under saddle.
