The latest Equilibrium Products Rising Stars winner is successful amateur show rider and producer Claire Miller.
Dedicated amateur show rider Claire Miller is the latest winner of the Equilibrium Products Rising Star Award.
Claire, 36, from Great Harwood, Lancashire, has four home-produced coloured horses and enjoys much success in the show-ring on the county circuit.
She impressed the Rising Stars judges with her achievements and her dedication and hard work in juggling horses and competing alongside a full-time job as an accountant.
Claire says she was brought up with horses and had her first taste of riding aged two.
Their successful showing journey began in in 1995, when Claire and her grandad went to view a skewbald mare they had seen advertised for sale.
“As soon as we pulled into the yard, the head of a beautiful coloured horse appeared over the door,” recalls Claire. “If everything about her was just as nice, I knew she was the horse for us!”
After watching the unbroken three-year old trotted up, Claire says she was head over heels in love with the “flashy mover” and they made the decision to buy Floberon (‘Flo’), who is by the Queen’s coloured stallion Oberon.
“We have had many years of enjoyment with Flo,” says Claire. “She has lovely conformation and presence and we competed successfully in Pony Club and in coloured horse showing classes at county level. She is now 25 and retired and enjoys her time in the paddock, keeping an eye on the other horses!”
