High-gloss lacquer, mirror, metal-these are the materials we keep going back to," says designer Aurélien Raymond, founder of the Paris-based Studio Akademos with Costanza Rossi. Such hallmarks all appear at Rossi's own home, a slick and unexpected apartment in the 9th arrondissement. A bespoke cocktail table of glossy walnut rests on chunky stainless-steel legs. A lustrous blue bookshelf and inset vermillion-hued sofa add blocks of color. Mirrored walls expand the space ad infinitum. "Every time someone enters the apartment," Rossi reports, "it's the same reaction-wow."
