“Nothing Worse Could Happen to One Than to Be Completely Understood.” Carl Jung
A person may never know the extent of their creative depth until their own reality is thrust into question. Fin Dac, one of the world’s most expressive urban artists, explains how his life experiences have led him to create some of the most admired street art in the world. “I was pretty much a broken man at that point,” he said, when asked about his start, “and art was simply a way of taking my mind off my life. There was no plan to be an artist and certainly not a full time one… it just so happened that through all that hurt and pain I found the key to a happier life through my art.”
Fin’s creative genius is the willingness to take incredible artistic risk. Especially in public spaces, he conscientiously surrenders creative thought to others. But trusting it to be independently experienced, with preconceived preferences and discriminations, is possibly the most powerful bestowal to human consciousness available. This is the gift that Fin Dac is giving communities all over the world.
