New and alternative sources of illumination come with intelligent design parameters, adding up to efficient and aesthetic lighting.
In light of challenges such as energy conservation, easy maintenance and cost efficiency, the lighting industry is undergoing a metamorphosis. Commercial spaces are considering cutting costs by incorporating new lighting technology to use less energy yet produce higher output. LED, solar lighting, daylight harvesting and sensor-based automated technology are being widely adopted to create a sustainable environment and cut down on the carbon footprint. “Select systems now have components that turn everyday lighting into smart devices, using Big Data intelligence and platform thinking. LEDs and integrated lighting controls are increasing energy efficiency and improving user experiences across sectors,” says Parushni Aggarwal, founder and creative director, Studio CREO.
Indeed, light fixtures go over and above being just illuminating elements; rather they are considered design tools that can transform spaces cleverly. “Lighting adds the fourth dimension to any interior space. While it definitely impacts the aesthetic and functional aspects of interiors, it also contributes to the mood and tempo of the space. Since all commercial spaces, such as restaurants, spas, hotels, stores, malls and even offices, provide differential experiences, lighting becomes an indispensable factor for all kinds of spatial design,” explains Jurgen Wolf, MD of Häfele India Pvt Ltd.
