Working alongside his brother Michael, Christian Sieger leads the strategic development of their eponymous design company. Sieger is an inspiration to listen to – his measured thoughts on the ways in which design can respond to the contemporary moment touch upon history, environmental sustainability and social activism. His conversation is as diverse as the projects undertaken by his global company that was established in 1964. With its roots in architecture, the firm is now renowned for strategic and creative design across disciplines. Sieger explains that there is no simple sentence to summarise the activities of the 45-person team. However, what unites every project is a desire to “design with soul,” he enthuses, adding: “There’s always a story, there’s always a character that we like to create and develop.”
