Archifest is back, this time with a focus on the importance of its influence on all aspects of mankind.
Follain has been appointed by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) as the Festival Director of Archifest 2018, which will run from 28 September to 10 October.
One of his first tasks was to identify “Design for Life” as the theme for this edition – something that is very much at the core of the belief the Frenchman and his team at WY-TO uphold.
It succinctly encompasses elements such as liveability, sustainability, well-being and life satisfaction, and recognises the need for creativity and innovation.
Three sub-themes have also been identified: Design for People, Design for Time and Design for Environment.
These will all be evident in the events held throughout the two-week long festival that is in its twelfth year running.
They include projects, multi-disciplinary collaborations, conferences, workshops and teachings.
Collectively, they point towards the single fact that when the power of Design is maximised correctly, it has great potential to reflect the richness of human values, our history and development, and enhance the world we live in for our future generations.
