OFFICIAL Crossover to replace three-door hatch, with EV to follow petrol and diesel cars.
DS may be playing the long game in its pursuit of Audi, BMW and Mercedes, but its second bespoke model in the space of a year will break cover at October’s Paris Motor Show, in the shape of the new DS 3 Cross back.
Like its bigger brother, the DS 7, the DS 3 gains the Cross back name to signify its SUV styling – although in truth, it is also a replacement for the DS 3 hatch, which won’t get a direct successor.
The Cross back is still compact, at 4,118mm long – 178mm longer than the DS 3 hatch – but it gains rear doors and fresh tech thanks to the PSA Group’s new compact Common Modular Platform (CMP) that’ll underpin everything from the new Peugeot 208 hatch to the next generation of Vauxhall Corsa.
CMP also allows for electrification, with an all-electric E-Tense model arriving at the end of next year, six months after petrol and diesel versions of the DS 3 Cross back.
