Kia Niro Phev

Two years ago, Kia launched the Niro hybrid SUV to the UK and now has added a plug-in hybrid version that gives better electric range and even lower emissions. Paul Beard takes a look at the latest offering.

The pearlescent white car that you see in the photos here arrived on a cold but sunny February morning and I was keen to find out all about it. I opened the door and slid into the comfy looking leather driver’s seat and then searched for the Start/Stop push button; rather disappointingly, there wasn’t one and I had to flip out a key and start up traditionally. For a £30K technically connected car I felt a bit let down. However, all was not lost, as I soon discovered that just like the Optima Sportswagon that I had recently driven, the interior was very well laid out and the quality of the materials used was generally very good, quite Germanic in fact.
