WE SAY: WITH PETROL AND DIESEL AMT OPTIONS, TATA BOOSTS NEXON’S APPEAL
Is navigating through urban traffic in a manual car sucking the fun out of driving? Are your weekly trips to the petrol station burning a massive hole in your wallet? Does driving around in a small car over broken roads take a toll on your backside? If your answers to these questions were a resounding ‘yes’, we might just have a solution for you – the Tata Nexon AMT.
Called the HyprDrive Self-Shift Gears, no, that’s not a typo, the Nexon AMT would be the first in its segment to sport both petrol and diesel AMT combinations. And going by our initial driving impressions of the crossover, this Tata has got the go to match the show. But before we get to the juicy bits, let’s get the specs out of the way. With the Nexon HD SSG, what you get is a six-speed AMT paired with either a 108bhp, 170Nm, 3cyl 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit or a 108bhp, 260Nm, 4cyl 1.5-litre turbo-diesel motor. In both cases, it’s the same hardware with different tuning to better suit their respective power ratings. And like most modern Tatas, this one too gets driving modes; Sport, City, Eco and for those who like to take control of the reins, there’s a manual tip-tronic mode too.
