Triumph Trident 660 Triple Fun

Ever so often, we come across something new in life. But is new always good? Or better? That’s what we were about to find out after attending Triumph South Africa’s launch of the new Trident 660. I met up with Bruce Allen, MD of Triumph South Africa at their Flagship shop in Sandton, early one Monday morning. After a quick coffee and a briefing of the bikes, a group of three riders headed out in the direction of Johannesburg CBD. Bruce had an interesting trip in store for us, visiting many colourful Graffiti wall murals, before ending up in Richmond for a brunch and then back to Sandton. The route included some highway traveling, interesting suburban roads complete with twisty bits and of course the challenging streets of Johannesburg CBD, complete with bad roads, rubble and litter, mad taxis and the like. This route was surely going to place the Trident 660 in its natural habitat, that of commuter and fun runabout.

Winter was knocking on the door as we set off on around 9 am, facing the chill on a bike with zero wind protection. That was soon forgotten as the fun factor of this bike came to the fore. What an easy bike to ride, from the get-go. It’s as if you’ve owned the Trident for a while already, everything just falls to hand so easily and you can focus on the road and traffic ahead.
