One benefit about being the editor of Jp is that I get to go Jeeping and get paid for it. Yes, that&rsquo;s pretty much the best job in the world, and I&rsquo;m quite thankful for it. Not only that, I&rsquo;ve been with this company doing just that for nearly 25 years, and I&rsquo;m not about to quit any time soon. Back in the day, David Freiburger (former editor of 4-Wheel &amp; Off-Road, Hot Rod, and others) hired me away from my Jeep and 4x4 shop in Arizona to come and work for the biggest off-road magazine in the world: Petersen&rsquo;s 4-Wheel &amp; Off-Road. The rest is history. David and I started buying and dragging dead Jeeps out of people&rsquo;s garages and fixing them on-site. We&rsquo;d drive away and go Jeeping, while the owners who were selling them stared in amazement as we drove away. Eventually, we graduated to flying into far-flung burgs and hamlets with a bag of tools and our sandals. We&rsquo;d buy a local Jeep and DED it back to Los Angeles. DED stood for Dirt Every Day, and referenced the fact that we would nearly die at least once on the trip back home. It made great magazine articles, and netted us a plethora of derelict Jeeps that still festoon our respective residences.And for you history buffs, about 5 years ago our company unleashed Roadkill, the YouTube and Motor Trend OnDemand (MTOD) internet show where&nbsp;Freiburger and Mike Finnegan perform similar hijinks with old cars and trucks, a natural outgrowth of our DED tours. Flash-forward a couple of years, and Fred Williams of Petersen&rsquo;s 4-Wheel &amp; Off-Road convinced the suits that a 4x4 show would be great too, and Dirt Every Day was launched with Fred as the host. It turns out that subscription-based quality programing really works, and now MTOD is pushing hard for more great shows to showcase our talented bunch of content producers, meaning us! In fact, a whole new slate of pilot shows are being scheduled, and you&mdash;the viewer&mdash;will tell us by popular demand which ones they should keep as a regular series.That of course is what brings me to the point of this whole editorial: We just taped the pilot episode for JPTV (yes, that is a working name only), with me as the host and the ubiquitous Trent McGee from our popular Ultimate Adventure series as co-host. The concept is similar to the past trips with Freiburger. Find a derelict and neglected Jeep for the right price, and then rescue, rehabilitate, and road trip it to the next Jeep&mdash;all on a real budget in a regular garage. No fancy shops, no big budgets, and no custom builds, just real guys working on real Jeeps that need our help. Throw in a healthy amount of off-roading to make sure the rig works, then move on to the next worthy candidate while doing it all in a week. Simple, right? So here&rsquo;s the catch.
