The Wakefield Park track hosted this annual historic racing car meeting, attracting a variety of cars including, most importantly, MGs. The MG marque raced in two categories: Group S (Production Sports Cars prior to 1978) and Regularity (a Regularity Trial is to set consistent lap times at less than the full potential of the driver and vehicle).

The Group S schedule consisted of one qualifying session and four sprint races over the weekend. In total, seven MGs entered the four races making it by far the most popular marque, and a third of the 22-car-strong field. There were five MG Midgets and two MGBs.
