MOTORINDIA|January 2020
Themed – Smart i-Tech – Next Gen India @75 – EXCON 2019 held from December 10-14 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, proved to be the largest show since its inception with more than 300,000 square meters of display area, over 1,250 exhibitors with 21 countries participating through nearly 400 companies and country pavilions from Germany, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, the UK and China. An overview from the exhibition which proved to be a success despite the economic slowdown.
Successful EXCON 2019 mirrors upbeat spirit of construction industry

South Asia’s largest construction equipment exhibition, EXCON 2019, organized by CII and supported by Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturer’s Association (ICEMA), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Builder’s Association of India (BAI) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), celebrated its 10th edition – a milestone in itself – in a truly ‘advanced’ way and promised a believable and exciting way forward. A bouquet of ‘gifts’ from the concerned minister to the construction industry sealed the ‘deal’ for the industry.

Construction equipment and machinery can no longer be thought of as the ‘poorer cousin’ to the automotive sector in adopting latest smart and intelligent technologies. The construction equipment industry opened its arms to advanced technologies, and innovative designs in a bid to prove to all stakeholders involved – especially the investors – that it is marching towards the ‘next-gen’ level in every way that matters. And the mood was upbeat defying the obvious symptoms of slowdown globally and in Indian economy.

The chosen location, Bengaluru, in the last two decades, has proved itself to be the construction equipment capital of India with the presence of global players. It was heartening to see exclusive pavilions on artificial intelligence, internet of things, robotics, attracting visitors and businesses.
