Top Down Luxury: The New Range Of Cabriolets From Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz added a dose of class and style to luxury open-top motoring on Indian roads with the new C-Class Cabriolet and S-Class Cabriolet.

A convertible is not the most popular body style for cars in India. Reason? All the dust and pollution that characterises our roads! It is no surprise, then, that practically a handful of convertibles are sold on Indian roads, most of which come from luxury car manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz India is a shining example in this regard, and the three-pointed star recently widened its cabriolet portfolio by bringing in the new C-Class Cabriolet and S-Class Cabriolet, creating the biggest cabriolet portfolio of any luxury car manufacturer in India.

The C-Class Cabriolet is the first ever cabriolet from Mercedes-Benz globally on the C-Class platform. With a dynamic and sporty design, the C-Class Cabriolet is an impressive sight, riding on beautiful Himalaya Grey alloy wheels. Head on, the diamond radiator grille and chrome highlights look striking. The large air intakes aid the air requirements of the high-performance engine and “underscore the sense of width and sportiness of the front end”, commented Aspi Bhathena of Car India. Outstanding driving comfort is ingrained in the DNA of every Mercedes-Benz, and in the C-Class Cabriolet, this translates to acoustics similar to what you would experience in closed-top cars. Shapur Kotwal of Autocar India felt it was easy to carry on a conversation bereft of the typical hood-flapping or excessive wind noise you might associate with a soft top convertible. The multilayer soft top can be operated on the move at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and folds down in just 20 seconds! If the standard black shade does not catch your fancy, pick from dark blue, dark brown and dark red. The Aircap feature (also available in the bigger S-Class Cabriolet) reduces turbulence for passengers – as Bob Rupani of Overdrive India says, this ensures comfortable motoring with the top down.
