Like a good scout, Lisa Richardson gets her Cooper five-door ready for winter driving by fitting new tyres.
Almost two years and 26,000 miles into our relationship, my F56 remains a trouble free and reliable member of the family, but as we approached our second winter together I wanted to be prepared for the cold weather and any potential snow and ice.
I had a set of 14-inch steel wheels with cold weather tyres tucked away in the garage for my R55 Clubman, but these are too small for the F56 and the wrong stud pattern. I started hunting online and around various breakers’ yards for a set of steel or cheap alloys but found nothing suitable, so I decided to swap the tyres over on my current rims and then look for something bigger in the spring for my summer wheels.
