2016 marks the start of the first pan-India national autocross championship.
MOTORSPORT DOES NOT have to be expensive. While the more hardcore of motorsport disciplines demand a certain amount of moolah, you can participate in an autocross with your road car! Don’t believe me? Our very first issue of Motor Sport India had an insight into the world of autocross (check out the story on www. motorsport.evoindia.com). But until that point there wasn’t a concrete championship for the sport, only a handful of events that ran individually. Northern Motorsports however have taken up the responsibility and with Maruti Suzuki on board as title sponsors they have created a proper championship series which takes place in two zones.
Three cities in each zone will run individual championships with a wild card round in Mumbai, open for all. The top four drivers in each class will qualify for the grand finale which will take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida.
