There are many remarkable motorcycles that&nbsp;were sold in India in the past but are now fading fast into the darkness of history, lost forever and never seen again.The&nbsp;Yezdi&nbsp;Roadking, and its predecessor called the&nbsp;Oilking, is one such motorcycle. Displacing&nbsp;250ccs&nbsp;from its single cylinder two stroke motor, the block of which was borrowed from an old CZ motocross racer from the seventies but&nbsp;detuned&nbsp;for India, the&nbsp;Oilking&nbsp;was launched by&nbsp;Yezdi&nbsp;to be the topmost model within its portfolio. Just as its name would suggest,&nbsp;Yezdi&nbsp;had tried to&nbsp;revolutionise&nbsp;the then prevalent two stroke motorcycle scene by fitting the&nbsp;Oilking&nbsp;with an oil pump beneath the bulge in the left hand engine cover, thus ending the need for premixed petrol and oil.Although the idea was lofty, the pump was plagued with problems and many engines seized as a consequence. The failure rate was so high that&nbsp;Yezdi&nbsp;relaunched the&nbsp;Oilking&nbsp;as the&nbsp;Roadking, now devoid of the oil pump, albeit retaining the lump in the left hand engine cover. The&nbsp;Roadking&nbsp;was launched with contact breaker points at first and then for increased reliability and improved efficiency, ignition was later updated to a CDI system.However, the&nbsp;Yezdi&nbsp;Oilking&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Roadking&nbsp;were&nbsp;always sprightly machines, putting out 16&nbsp;bhp&nbsp;and a stump pulling 2.4&nbsp;kgm&nbsp;of torque from their twin port oil burning motors. In fact, the&nbsp;Roadkings&nbsp;performed so well that they soon became the weapons of choice for numerous motorsport events in India. From&nbsp;moto&nbsp;crossing to road racing and rallying, the&nbsp;Roadkings&nbsp;reigned supreme and stacked plenty of silverware in living rooms across the country till the&nbsp;Rajdoot&nbsp;RD 350 came along.The&nbsp;Roadking&nbsp;was finally put to rest in 1995, when the Ideal&nbsp;Jawa&nbsp;plant in Mysore closed its gates forever. But despite being out of production for more than two decades, the&nbsp;Roadking&nbsp;has an ardent fan following. The demand for&nbsp;Roadkings&nbsp;is extremely high and the soaring prices are an accurate indicator of this fact. If you manage to lay your hands on one, we suggest you get it into ship shape and hang on to it for a while. It could, from the looks of it, put your kids through college in a few years. And if that&nbsp;doesn&rsquo;t work out, they&rsquo;ll at least have a fantastic motorcycle to get there on!
