Join Lizzie Pope behind the wheel of the latest Fiat Ducato, as this completely redesigned model looks to help you explore further on tour
The introduction of Euro 6 engines meant big news from Fiat last season, so perhaps it’s not surprising that it was more low-key at the Italian brand’s 2018 launch.
Yet despite the firm’s commanding market position – three out of four motor homes sold in Europe are Ducato-based – product development is continuing apace.
This year’s event marked the launch of the new four-wheel-drive Ducato. It’s not just ‘new’ because of its Euro 6 power plant: the four-wheel-drive technology has been redesigned in pursuit of greater reliability.
All SEVEL, and most Ford Transit based, ’vans are front-wheel drive, and rear-wheel drive is being offered on Mercedes-Benz and some Renault Master platforms; so the option of sending power to all four wheels, while not unique to Fiat, is not commonplace in the motor home market.
