Kobus and Sons Classic Cars advert in the magazine has become a firm favourite amongst all of our readers. We hear very often that it is the first ad many of our readers check before looking at any of the others.
In October 2017, the guys at Kobus and Sons got their hands on a 1969 Dodge Charger.
The car was in bad shape and needed a new owner who would bring her back to her former glory. Bjorn Dingemans saw the ad in the mag and made contact with Willim (Kobus and Sons). Bjorn is originally from Cape Town but works and lives in Mauritius and the ’69 Charger is his dream car. A deal was made and the Charger had a new owner. Bjorn then asked Willim if Kobus and Sons could restore the car for him.
Like all the cars that are restored by Kobus and Sons, it was hand-sanded down to bare metal – this was done in order to avoid any pitting, warpage or damage that machines, grinders or sandblasting can cause. The car had an unexplainable amount of rust and therefore, US Connections imported two new full quarter skins, tail panel, rear valance and floor pans. The bodywork took a whopping 8 months of hard work and almost 8kg of lead that had to be used for welding and fixing the body.
