2019 was the 6th running of VDubs In The Valley—subtitled ‘I see Dub People—Sixth Sense’. As you may have gathered the theme was movies. It just so happens that possibly the most famous ever movie car is a VW and as 2019 is the Beetle’s 50th birthday, it was only right that there was a Herbie lineup, Herbie Beetle owners got a free pass into the show. The organisers even showed The Love Bug on a big screen. There was also an A Team van replica in attendance—but I don’t think that’s in the same league and it’s not a VW to start with. There are a couple of Scooby Doo VW vans on the scene, but they didn’t seem to have been at this show, which was a pity.
Obviously with this movie theme there was ample opportunity to dress up for the fun and games on Saturday night, and I wasn’t disappointed with the turn out. Everywhere you looked there were Superheroes, Minions, Disney stars and X-Men—there was even a crazy three-man bobsleigh team! As I was working, I restricted my outfit to a Batman T-shirt—after all it’s hard to use a camera when you are dressed as a 6ft Minion.
