Karl Wonders Why The Current Crop Of Hypercars Just Don't Seem To Be Generating The Kind Of Interest That You'd Expect. Could It Be That Hypercars Are Getting Less-And-Less Relatable?

There’s been a paradigm shift, a change of perspective. It could be that we’re all getting older, and wiser – though many would argue that last point. But it could be that the focus has shifted away from traditional values.

Ever since The Grand Tour blasted the unholy trinity around a track, we may have reached our peak for supercar passion. There’s no denying that, if handed the keys to the P1, LaFerrari, or the 918, we’d be creating plenty of tyre smoke before never returning ever again. But the hoopla surrounding the McLaren Senna just didn’t match up to the hype that preceded the P1.

What’s strange is that the Senna’s performance figures actually match the P1, and in some cases its dynamics are even better – yet it’s a whole lot more affordable. Shouldn’t that by itself be a signal for desirability?
