For escapism

An Atlantic crossing sums up a relaxed lifestyle and offers plenty of time away from the outside world. On one of Silversea’s super-luxury small ships it’s that and more – the 15-day Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona trip manages to slip in a few idyllic ports on the way. There’s the best part of two days on Bermuda, in the capital, Hamilton, plus, after four days at sea, two calls in the Azores (little Faial with the dramatic backdrop of the volcano on neighbouring Pico, and Ponta Delgada, the archipelago’s largest city, on São Miguel Island) and a final fling in Málaga on the Costa del Sol. And the trip is on Silver Moon, Silversea’s newest ship, arriving next summer. It’s all-suite, all-balcony, with butler service – and food available 24 hours a day.

There will be eight restaurants including Atlantide (seafood), Kaiseki (Japanese), S.A.L.T. (regional dishes) and the heady French cuisine of La Dame by Relais & Chateaux. Departs on 17 March 2021, from £3,780pp, two sharing, includes flights (0844 251 0837; silversea.com).

For culture

Asia has always had an air of being apart from the rest of the world but Viking’s new Asia & India Artistry voyage opens the door in the most extravagant way – eight countries in 28 days. And all on one of Viking’s sublime ships, a feast of a Scandinavian understatement.
