LEAPING WITHIN TO LEAD FORWARD

CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY, ministers in government, changemakers, have continually drawn attention to future-proofing India’s economy, as the last 22 months drastically upturned the way of working and living. The pace of transformation is phenomenal and so is the stakeholders’ speed to adapt. Future ready is not just a buzzword as megatrends indicate that there is no going back to the pre-2020s.

A range of unique viewpoints came to light at Microsoft’s annual flagship forum Future Ready, where experts contemplate and discuss future defining trends such as the metaverse workspace, the need to combat cyber threat, establishing the value of sustainability, accelerating technology integration in the health and finance sector, tapping multiple entrepreneurial opportunities in the startup ecosystem – all of which will lead to achieving the vision of a truly digitised, sustainable and future-ready India.

Skill Building – Gateway to Employability

The skill gap is not a new thing in the IT industry as there always are emerging technologies that require continuous development. The talent shortage in the Indian job market prevails. The latest NASSCOM report shows that the demand for talent is eight times the availability. “What did the pandemic do? Redefine everything,” says Rekha Menon, Chairperson, Accenture India, adding, “Beyond the need for hard technical skills such as cloud computing, data analytics, blockchain, there is a critical need of soft skills like complex problem solving, social influence, active learning, emotional intelligence and many more.”
