CFO|October 2016

Once in a while he loves rocking a karaoke to Kishore Kumar tunes of 70's and 80's, that is, whenever he wishes to reboot. Making others groove to his mellifluous songs, KV Ganesh, who is currently the group CFO, Global Head- Legal & Company Secretary of Subex Limited, knows how to work hard and yet be stress free.

“I have combined professional excellence with a sound ethical practice and i feel that people need to spend time with themselves beyond their profession to have a meaningful and wholesome life,” says Ganesh who believes in striking a cord and striving for success.

Born in a family of bureaucrats, he grew up in Delhi. His father was working as a Director at Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Parliament House, and influenced by him and his bureaucrat family, Ganesh’s obvious choice was to pursue civil services. But, the boy was always a number cruncher at heart.

In 1977, he took the first steps towards pursuing his passion, opting for commerce as a subject in 11th class. Back in those days it was difficult to digest the fact that a bright student could make an odd choice by not opting for science. The school principal in an attempt to put some sense into Ganesh asked him the obvious question, what he wanted to do in life. “i was clueless,” he recalls. But the witty boy suddenly remembered his uncle who was working as an internal Auditor to the Prime Minister’s office at Tanzania, and blurted out that he wanted to do the same by becoming a Chartered Accountant. “i still owe it to her for helping me freeze my ambition at an early age,” he says. The determined boy ended up topping his school.
