Born in 1929 as Hema Mangeshkar, Lata Mangeshkar’s contribution to the music industry for over 7 decades had made her one of the most iconic and influential singers in India. She has been dubbed as the ‘Queen of Melody’ or the ‘Voice of the Millennium’. However, she was most popularly known as the ‘Nightingale of India’. She started her career in 1942, her father Deenanath Mangeshkar died of heart disease. Master Vinayak, the owner of Navyug Chitrapat and a close friend of Lata’s father took care of Lata and her siblings and helped her get started as a singer and actress.
