PT Karta Indonesia Global is a prime example of how well millennials nowadays monetize innovative and unique ideas.
Traffic congestion in big cities like Jakarta remains a perennial headache to many, inflicting high economic and, perhaps even worse, emotional costs. As a result, motorcycles have become an alternative transportation mode as it can cut travel time and bring you to places that are otherwise unreachable by cars.
In Indonesia, the number of motorcycles keeps rising. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), there are at present over 100 million motorcycles roaming around the country while cars stand at less than 20 million.
Millennials Jeff Hendrata (27), Andrew Setiawan (24) and Tjokro Wimantara (30) have a keen mind in seeing a business opportunity that can financially benefit motorcycle riders: advertisements in motion. Two years ago, the three of them incorporated themselves under PT Karta Indonesia Global and started to put advertising platforms on the rear end of motorcycles.
Karta is in fact a crowd-sourced advertising platform that connects advertisers and motorcycle drivers. It has installed on-board advertising panels on motorcycles which allow its drivers to earn income without having to leave their daily routine works.
For the benefit of advertisers, Karta enables them to reach a large audience and monitor advertising performance anytime and anywhere.
To keep tabs on the motorcycle drivers, Karta put a GPS connected to their apps. Drivers simply need to press “start” and “finish” to begin their work shift and Karta will track them along the way. As for the clients, they simply place their ads and upon consulting with a Karta specialist, pick drivers at designated areas. Karta will then seek nearby drivers to act as “brand ambassadors”. Drivers are compensated for the distance they cover and the number of tasks they perform.
