The innovative energy-saving power supply for hydraulic forging presses consists of reducing electricity consumption by the electric motor driving the pumps, reducing the noise emitted by pumps, and reducing leaks in hydraulic piston cylinders.
The hot open-die forging elongation process was analysed. The predicted forging force as a function of heavy steel forging heights for various deformation temperatures and strain rates were determined. The main advantage of this control system is the repeatability of the forging process and minimization of the size deviation of heavy large steel forgings.
Introduction
Along with the development of the energy industry and the growing power of power engineering devices, the demand for large-size hot forged products is increased, which include turbine shafts (water, gas, steam), rotors of wind and gas power generators. Forged heavy, large steel forgings find buyers mainly in the shipbuilding, machinery, energy, and metallurgy industries.
High-pressure hydraulic forging presses are used for open-die forging of heavy steel forgings (carbon, alloy, high-alloy, stainless and other steels). The Forecast of the Forging Industry Association, 20th International Forgemasters Meeting in Austria and EuroForge indicate that the volume of forged products has been growing steadily.
The Forged Products Division the CELSA Group steel plant in Poland operates hydraulic forging presses with the forces of 20, 32, and 80 MN for hot open die forging.
