One With Wellness
Hotelier India|September 2019
Chirag Lilaramani, founder of Liquid Sanctuary spills the beans on the concept of floatation, its benefits and how it is revolutionising the wellness and hospitality segment.
One With Wellness

There are more than 200 floatation therapy centres in the US alone, whereas in India apart from your stores you have built a floatation pool for the Taj Mahal Palace and a few others. How do you see its popularity rising in India?

Well, surely the awareness levels are rising in India. Builders, hoteliers and spas are on the look out for new offerings that sets them apart from the rest. Floatation, halotherapy and cryotherapy are proliferating all around the world because everyone seems to be interested in well-being more than ever. We are happy to be part of the movement.

How does floatation therapy work and what are its benefits?

We basically replicate the dead sea in a controlled environment. We add magnesium sulfate or pure dead sea salt to make the water extremely buoyant. The pool is in a light and sound proof room to remove the sense of sight and sound but we do have ambient lights and sounds as an optional feature for clients to ease into their session. The water is heated to skin temperature to minimise the sense of touch. A homeostasis state is mostly achieved while we sleep but also in a floatation tank when there is no external stimuli for our minds and bodies. This state is said to promote well being and restore normal physiological functions.
