What we want is the wow factor,” exclaims Soon Ong, the 37-year-old Chief Executive of the Clarity Group, as he walked us through the new Clarity Experience Centre at Alexandra Road. He whips out his phone, and with a few swipes and taps on a dedicated app, lights start to change color; divider screens begin to slide up; a painting slides away to reveal a massive TV hiding behind it. It seems like he’s onto something.

Ong, who is in charge of growing its footprint in Singapore and the region (particularly Malaysia and Indonesia) and further afield in New York and London, is credited for steering the 92-year-old company further into the 21st century.

Today, automation is something the Clarity Group is zooming in on after gaining traction in the world of audio systems and private cinemas. This critical step for the group allows their customers to take total control of everything in their house with a touch – from audio and video distribution to Wi-Fi, lights, blinds, airconditioning controls, and even security.
