SUMAN SHARMA profiles young singer AMIT MISHRA, who has made a name for himself with the mystical Bulleya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
His Sufi rendition Bulleya from Karan Johar’s tale of unrequited love, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM), has topped the charts. Composed by Pritam and written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the partromantic-part mystical number, invoking the great Punjabi Sufi poet Bulleh Shah, hit a chord with the young generation. And that’s no mean achievement. Echoing shades of love and longing, singer Amit Mishra achieved his moment of epiphany with the rendition. More so, because in the past he owed his popularity to peppy tracks Manma emotion Jaage (Dilwale) and Sau tarah ke (Dishoom).
“Though the track is youth oriented, it has a deep layer, a spark that inspired me. I give the entire credit to Pritamda who composed it so beautifully. He is my mentor,” says he.
